Governing Board Chair / Proprietor
Daniel McCann
Daniel brings over two decades of experience working across children’s services, specialist education and alternative provision. His background includes leadership roles within children’s homes, semi-independent settings, youth engagement projects and independent schools, giving him a deep understanding of the complex needs faced by young people requiring SEMH support.
As Co-Founder of Apex Specialist Education, Daniel helped establish the organisation with a clear mission: to create safe, relational and aspirational learning environments for pupils who have struggled in mainstream education. His strategic vision has shaped the development of The Apex Way, ensuring every centre remains grounded in trauma-informed practice, high expectations and compassionate leadership.
In his role as Chair of Governors/Proprietor, Daniel provides strong governance, oversight and challenge to the senior leadership team. He is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, safeguarding accountability and ensuring that Apex continues to deliver high-quality provision across all sites.
Daniel is deeply committed to improving life chances for vulnerable young people, and plays a central role in the long-term direction, culture and success of Apex Specialist Education.
