About Healey Learning Centre

Healey Learning Centre is based at Unit 15 - 16 Hollows Works, Shawclough Road, Rochdale OL12 6LN. It functions as a independent special school, and alternative provision.

Healey Learning Centre is the first independent special school within Apex Specialist Education, providing a safe, nurturing and aspirational environment for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Situated in Rochdale, Healey serves pupils who require a more personalised, relationship-centred approach than mainstream education can offer.

From the moment it opened, Healey has been shaped by The Apex WaySupport, Inspire, Flourish, Succeed. Our staff place relationships at the heart of every interaction, using trauma-informed and restorative practice to ensure pupils feel understood, valued and emotionally secure. This strong foundation enables learners to rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and make meaningful progress.

Healey Learning Centre is proud to be recognised by Ofsted as Good overall, with Outstanding Personal Development, reflecting our commitment to high standards, holistic support and consistent, high-quality teaching and care.

Our curriculum is flexible, ambitious and adapted to individual need. Pupils access a blend of academic pathways, therapeutic support, vocational opportunities and enrichment activities that help them develop skills for life, qualifications for the future, and a renewed belief in their own potential.

Healey is more than a school — it is a community built on trust, safety and progress. Every pupil who walks through our doors is given the opportunity to grow, thrive and succeed on a pathway that truly works for them.
