Safeguarding Leadership and Staff Deployment
Safeguarding Across the Whole School
Safeguarding at Healey Learning Centre operates through a single, integrated whole-school structure across all learning centres.
The school maintains one safeguarding policy, one reporting system, and one leadership structure, ensuring consistent practice, oversight and accountability wherever pupils are educated.
Safeguarding responsibilities are coordinated centrally while being implemented locally within each learning centre. This ensures both strong strategic oversight and immediate, responsive support for pupils.educated within the school.
Safeguarding Leadership Structure
Overall safeguarding responsibility rests with the Headteacher and the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), who operate across the whole school.
Each learning centre also has at least one trained Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) at all times, responsible for day-to-day safeguarding support on site.
This structure ensures:
Clear lines of accountability
Consistent safeguarding standards
Immediate local response when needed
Central oversight across the entire provision
All safeguarding leads work as one team, sharing information, reviewing cases and maintaining coordinated support for pupils.
Unified Safeguarding Systems
Healey Learning Centre operates a single safeguarding recording and monitoring system across all learning centres.
All safeguarding concerns, actions and monitoring are recorded within the same system, allowing leaders to maintain full oversight of safeguarding across the school.
This enables:
Consistent record-keeping
Shared safeguarding information
Coordinated responses
Effective monitoring and review
Whole-school safeguarding analysis
Safeguarding practice is monitored centrally to ensure consistent standards across all locations.
Cross-Site Safeguarding Practice
Safeguarding practice is supported through whole-school professional structures, including:
Regular safeguarding briefings
Whole-school safeguarding training
Shared procedures and protocols
Leadership monitoring and quality assurance
Collaborative case discussion where appropriate
This ensures safeguarding arrangements operate consistently across all learning centres.
Staff Deployment Across Learning Centres
Healey Learning Centre operates as one school with a single workforce deployed across multiple learning centres.
All staff are employed by Healey Learning Centre and form part of one integrated staffing structure. Staffing is coordinated centrally to ensure consistent standards of education, supervision and safeguarding across the provision.
Senior leaders and specialist staff work across learning centres as part of planned deployment, quality assurance and professional support.
Staff contracts reflect the expectation that roles may operate across more than one learning centre where required.
Stability and Continuity for Pupils
While staff form part of a whole-school workforce, each learning centre maintains a consistent core team to provide stability, familiarity and secure relationships for pupils.
Cross-site working supports shared expertise and consistent standards, while day-to-day staffing arrangements prioritise continuity and emotional safety for young people.
Leadership Oversight and Quality Assurance
Senior leaders maintain regular presence across learning centres through planned visits, monitoring and quality assurance activity.
This ensures:
Safeguarding procedures are implemented consistently
Staff receive appropriate guidance and support
Standards of supervision remain high
Pupil wellbeing is monitored across the whole school
Leadership oversight operates across all learning centres as part of one unified safeguarding framework.
One Safeguarding Culture
Across all learning centres, Healey Learning Centre operates one safeguarding culture built on shared responsibility, consistent practice and strong professional relationships.
Every member of staff is trained, supported and expected to uphold the same safeguarding standards, ensuring that all pupils receive safe, responsive and consistent care wherever they are
