Vision & Values / The Apex Way
At Healey Learning Centre, everything we do begins with a clear belief: every young person can succeed when they are supported, understood and given the right environment to thrive, regardless of their past experiences, barriers or previous disengagement from learning.
The Apex Way is the foundation of our whole-school ethos. It shapes how we teach, how we lead, how we support pupils and how we work together across our learning centres. It is not simply a set of values, but a shared way of thinking, acting and making decisions that is embedded throughout the school.
Across all learning centres, The Apex Way provides a consistent framework that ensures pupils experience the same expectations, relationships and standards wherever they learn.
Our Four Pillars
Support Everything begins with safety, trust and relationships. | Inspire Inspiration sits at the heart of every interaction. |
Flourish Flourishing happens when pupils feel connected, confident and supported. | Succeed Success is defined by progress, achievement and readiness for the future. |
Our Practice
The Apex Way is embedded consistently across the school through:
Trauma-informed and relationship-centred practice
Inclusive, personalised learning environments
High expectations supported by structured support
Therapeutic and intervention-led approaches
Restorative and supportive behaviour principles
A curriculum that promotes personal development alongside academic progress
These principles guide practice across all learning centres, ensuring consistency, continuity and shared standards throughout the school.
We also embed British Values across the curriculum and wider school life, promoting democracy, respect, tolerance and the rule of law. Our aim is to develop confident, responsible young people who understand their place within their community and wider society.
High Standards, Real Outcomes
The Apex Way is not theoretical, it is demonstrated through outcomes.
Healey Learning Centre has been recognised by Ofsted as Good overall, with Outstanding Personal Development, reflecting strong leadership, consistent practice and the impact of our whole-school approach to support, engagement and growth.
These standards are maintained across all learning centres through shared leadership, workforce collaboration and whole-school quality assurance.
A Commitment That Runs Through Everything
The Apex Way is the foundation of our school culture and the thread that connects every part of our provision.
Whether learning takes place in Rochdale, Altrincham or Stockport, pupils experience the same ethos, expectations and commitment to their wellbeing and progress. Our distributed model enables personalised environments while maintaining a unified school identity and shared purpose.
Above all, our mission remains constant: to ensure every young person feels safe, supported and capable of achieving a meaningful and successful future.
